Thank you for asking about my editorial and manuscript assessment services. Due to the numerous requests for help that come across my desk daily, I have collated a list of recommended editors you might like to try in the event that I am unavailable. If I have not worked with the editors listed below personally, then they have come highly recommended to me by trusted colleagues.

Before you engage an editor, ensure that your manuscript as clean as possible, that you understand the scope of the work you require, and that your project is a good fit for the editor in question. Make sure you have your sample text and synopsis ready, an idea of your budget and the timeframe for the work. Remember, an editor can only assess the words on the page, so if you are an emerging writer looking for more hand-holding support, you might like apply to a mentorship programme first. Types of Editing

Developmental / structural editors

This kind of editor examines the picture issues such as plot, character, structure, and pacing.

Copy / line editing

Not entirely the same, sometimes editors will undertake both these functions at the same time; this is often the case for small publishing houses. A copy editor will examine the work for style, tone, and flow issues, while a line editor looks at the mechanics, checking grammar, spelling, punctuation, factual issues, and consistency.

Proofreading

Proof readers give the work a final close read to pick up any unexpected typographical errors, missing words, punctuation and formatting snafus, and other small errors which may have slipped through.
